Step by Step is the fourth studio album by the trailblazing American boy band New Kids on the Block (NKOTB), originally released on June 5, 1990. Following the massive global success of Hangin' Tough, this album solidified the quintet—Jordan Knight, Jonathan Knight, Joey McIntyre, Donnie Wahlberg, and Danny Wood—as a pop culture phenomenon. The album features a sophisticated blend of late-80s synth-pop, soulful ballads, and hip-hop-influenced dance tracks that define the "New Kids" sound.

Musically, the album was written and produced by Maurice Starr, alongside significant contributions from the band members themselves, most notably Donnie Wahlberg.
