Few records capture a musician at the absolute peak of their powers the way *St. Louis to Liverpool* does. Released in 1964, this was Chuck Berry's seventh studio album and the first of his LPs to crack the Billboard charts — and it did so while the British Invasion was reshaping rock and roll with sounds Berry himself had invented. Critic Dave Marsh called it "one of the greatest rock and roll records ever made," and it's hard to argue: the playing is tight, the writing is sharp, and Berry sounds like a man who knows exactly what he's doing.
This 2025 reissue from Elemental Music is a limited edition pressing on 140 gram virgin vinyl — heavier stock than standard pressings, with the cleaner, quieter surface noise that virgin vinyl is known for. If you've been waiting for a quality modern press of this title to land in your collection, this is it.
