Few albums carry the weight Voodoo does. D'Angelo's 2000 masterpiece didn't just win the Grammy for Best R&B Album — it redefined what soul music could sound like, pulling from deep funk, hip-hop, and raw spirituality into something that felt genuinely new. Recorded at Electric Lady Studios with the Soulquarians collective and producers including DJ Premier and Raphael Saadiq, the album features Method Man & Redman and a loose, groove-centered sound that abandoned pop structure entirely. Rolling Stone ranks it 28th on their 500 Greatest Albums of All Time, and the neo-soul genre still hasn't fully caught up to it.
This 2015 and subsequent reissue presses Voodoo onto black vinyl across two LPs, mastered at Sterling Sound in New York — the same facility used for the original. The set includes a full inlay with credits, lyrics, and extensive liner notes, and the runouts are hand-etched. It's a well-packaged edition that does justice to an album that deserves to be played loud on good equipment.
