Beasts of No Nation is one of Fela Kuti's most politically charged statements, released in 1989 as a direct rebuke of world leaders — Reagan, Thatcher, and Botha among them — set against the full, churning force of Egypt '80. The title track became a live centerpiece during his 1986 North American tour, and the album's blend of extended Afrobeat grooves with biting lyrical commentary cemented its place as essential Fela. The album also lent its name to Uzodinma Iweala's acclaimed 2005 novel, a testament to how deeply this record lodged itself into the cultural imagination.

This is the 2015 Knitting Factory Records reissue, bringing the album back into print on vinyl with the label that has been the primary steward of Fela's catalog in North America. With a Discogs community rating of 4.6 out of 5.0 across 51 ratings, this pressing has earned consistent praise from collectors.
