Developed as a concept album following Martinez's appearance on The Voice in 2012, it centers on a fictional character exploring emotional vulnerability, family conflict, and troubled relationships through toy-like sounds, synth-driven production, and hip-hop-influenced beats. Martinez directed all accompanying music videos, which form a continuous visual storyline. The album debuted at #6 on the US Billboard 200 and achieved multi-platinum certification in the United States.
