When the Buena Vista Social Club story moved from screen to stage, it brought the beloved repertoire of those legendary Havana sessions into a new dramatic context. The Broadway production, which opened at the Marquis Theatre in March 2025 after an acclaimed Off-Broadway run at the Atlantic Theater Company, features a book by Marco Ramírez and arrangements by Marco Paguia that honor the Cuban ensemble's originals while serving the demands of live theater. Producer Ry Cooder, who helmed the 1997 recordings that started it all, is credited here — a direct thread connecting the source material to its theatrical evolution.
