Aquemini is the third studio album by American hip hop duo OutKast, released on September 29, 1998, by LaFace Records and Arista Records. The title is a portmanteau of the two members' Zodiac signs: Aquarius (Big Boi) and Gemini (André 3000), reflecting the album's recurring theme of their differing personalities. Recorded primarily at Bobby Brown's Bosstown Recording Studios and Doppler Studios in Atlanta, Georgia, the album expands on ATLiens by incorporating live instrumentation and drawing on 1970s funk, southern soul, gospel, country, and psychedelic rock. Featured guests include Raekwon, George Clinton, and Erykah Badu. Aquemini received widespread critical acclaim and peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard 200; it was certified double platinum by the RIAA in July 1999. It is widely considered one of the greatest hip hop albums ever made — Rolling Stone ranked it No. 49 on its 2020 updated '500 Greatest Albums of All Time' list. This or Reissue.
