Surrender marked a turning point for RÜFÜS DU SOL — a deeper, more cinematic take on their signature blend of melodic house and indie-electronic. Recorded largely during lockdown, the album trades some of their earlier dancefloor immediacy for a moodier, more introspective sound that landed with both longtime fans and critics. It's the kind of record that holds up on headphones just as well as it does in a club context, which is rare in this genre.
This 2022 pressing is on red vinyl and the version collectors are actively seeking out. The pressing delivers the warmth and low-end clarity the production deserves, and the red colorway looks striking on a shelf. While the disc was pressend in Czech Republic, the album was put together in Argentina for the Rose Avenue / Reprise Records release, this is a two-LP set spread across four sides with proper room to breathe.
