Lover is the seventh studio album by American singer-songwriter Taylor Swift, released on August 23, 2019, through Republic Records. Her first album after departing Big Machine Records, it was produced with Jack Antonoff, Joel Little, Louis Bell, and Frank Dukes. Described by Swift as a 'love letter to love', the album explores infatuation, commitment, lust, and heartache, with some songs addressing LGBT rights and feminism. The production draws on 1980s-inspired synth-pop, dream pop, and pop rock, with elements of country, folk, and funk. Lover debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 and was the best-selling album globally by a solo artist in 2019, certified seven-times platinum in the US. Singles included 'Me!', 'You Need to Calm Down', 'Lover', 'The Man', and 'Cruel Summer', which topped the Hot 100 in 2023. The album was nominated for the Grammy Award for Best Pop Vocal Album.
