The Tortured Poets Department is the eleventh studio album by American singer-songwriter Taylor Swift, released April 19, 2024, via Republic Records. Co-written and produced with Jack Antonoff and Aaron Dessner during the 2023 American leg of the Eras Tour, the album draws on autobiographical songwriting to explore themes of grief, emotional tumult, depression, anger, erotic desire, and self-aware humor. The standard edition is largely minimalist synth-pop driven by synthesizers and programmed drums; the double-album edition (The Anthology) leans into chamber pop and folk-pop ballads. The album topped charts globally and became the best-selling album of 2024, spending 17 weeks atop the Billboard 200 and earning eight-times platinum RIAA certification.
