The Eclipse soundtrack arrived at a moment when major-label compilations rarely pulled this kind of curatorial weight. Featuring contributions from Muse, The Black Keys, Beck, Band of Horses, Jack White, and Howard Shore, it reads less like a movie tie-in and more like an indie rock dream bill. The result holds up well beyond its 2010 context — eclectic, moody, and surprisingly cohesive for a Various Artists set.
